MainStage audio cuts out completely

Periodically, MainStage runs great then after sitting untouched for a while (+/-60min) MainStage no longer outputs audio to any source. MainStage still reads midi, computer still plays audio perfectly from other applications; sleep is turned off so during periods of unuse MainStage remains open and in exact same state as when used. Panic button does nothing, restarting application gets sound working again. I'm using MainStage 3.6.1 on MBP (OSX 12.0.1)--any ideas what causes this issue?

Ok, we have similar machines. I recommend creating a new user profile on your machine and see if that fixes the problem. If so, you know the issue likely isn’t MainStage but something in macOS (which is the direction I’m leaning). If not, I’d try using an external interface to see if the problem persists. You have two easy options there.

Hmm, that’s really strange because normally I would suggest that the interface or its drivers are the issue but this isn’t a factor in your case. However, Mac hardware is usually quite reliable and so your situation is quite odd. Do you have ANY audio software installed on your Mac that could be hijacking/modifying the audio output or settings e.g. Black Hole, Boom Audio etc?


What are your MBP specs, including year and model?
