One of the main reasons why your iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max is getting hot is because of the use of power-hungry apps. Certain apps use more resources than others, and this can cause the device to heat up. Apps that are known to be power-hungry include games, video streaming apps, and GPS navigation apps.

To Overcome this problem you can do the following

~ Close Power Hungry Apps

~ Update Your Phone to Latest Software

~ Disable Background refresh

~ Use an external fan or cooling device

~ Reduce screen brightness

~ Disable location services

100% disagree. Why then would my brand new iPhone 14 Pro Max (1 week old) gets so hot, that it’s not comfortable to even hold, I’ve had iPhones only and since iPhone 4, never has this happened before. When I was doing its first backup yesterday, the phone kept popping up a message during backup stating the charging will resume after it cools down. My phone didn’t shut down, but obviously if it’s not comfortable to hold (and no case even yet) and the phone itself acknowledges it’s overheating, it’s overheating and not shutting down.

I’d consider it a concern when the phone is so hot it’s not comfortable holding it. My 14 pro max sent me pop up messages saying charging will resume after phone cools down, I think that it another concern. Just because the phone doesn’t shut down does not mean it is not a concern. Apple should recall these phones, no software updates are going to fix this, it’s a hardware problem.

Always been iPhone user had many different versions. None ever got this hot!

Except once years ago when l left one in my car with the windows up. Never made that mistake again. Only when l use 14pm does it periodically get very hot. Like the other users mentioned certain apps make it worse. Also, the first time charging and sometimes while charging now it gets really hot. Fortunately, it doesn’t stay that hot. However, it does stay warm behind the camera. When it really heats hot that is also the main area of heat. Let me add this may be all normal behavior for 14pm version. Does not mean l have to like the new feature. Quite honestly, It distracts from your viewing, listening, talking pleasure and use of the device. So, l said it and there it is.

And let me add just because it doesn’t shut down from feeling hot. Doesn’t make it acceptable. Nor can I imagine that it’s good for the battery health and longevity. Not to mention, possibly what type of chemicals might be activated in the inner working’s of the device, from this type of repetitive heat. Is there something transferable onto our hands, face, lungs, or brains? Do we need to worry about that at all? Some kind of microwave radiation scenario ☢️ just asking. Really disappointing, “Hello” bring the bug fix please….

I agree with, have experienced all of the “ heating “ issues mentioned about the iPhone 14 pro max and it cannot be normal. I think it’s expensive to resolve and is being sold to the customer as is knowing faithful followers will buy them regardless of the odivious issues and not complain and buy the next phone that will come out, hopefully before all the 14s burn out!!!

Apple has sensors in the device that prevent it from reaching temperatures damaging to its own components or the battery under normal operation or to shut it down until it cools if they do.

The bottom line is I get you may be uncomfortable with it, but it's not causing damage to the device.

Too hot to hold means it’s too hot to hold by anyones standards. I’m blown away you say it’s operating within parameters when people are saying it’s so hot they have to put their phones down. I don’t want to be rude, but that is absolutely ridiculous. Mine was so hot it was not comfortable to hold, that is NOT operating parameters. The point of a mobile is to be mobile, handheld. You say as long as the phone doesn’t shut off it’s within operating parameters yet that too is silly, when I charge my iPhone 14pm (just like I have since iPhone 4 with zero overheating) I have never gotten a message on phone saying charging will resume when phone cools down like this 14pm. Obviously it’s overheated otherwise why did charging cease due to overheating, hence the message. You asked here if someone had a case on their phone, again, ridiculous, we all have had other iPhones or other brands, cases are to be expected and irrelevant, if cases make a difference then that’s another Apple problem altogether. We here, are not children, please stop. It is not normal no matter how many times you say it is, no one should have to put their phones down due to overheating (unless left in a hot car). Basically, unless I miss understood you, everyone experiencing this is SOL, even those who said they replaced for a new 14pm and the same problem occurred on replacement. This is how companies lose a lot of future customers. Every company goofs periodically, including Apple, that’s to be expected, what’s not acceptable is blowing off customers that paid a lot of money for this phone, not to mention the inconveniences customers go through by getting the replacement. I am in the market to replace my MacBook and I can’t even imagine paying Apple the low price (haha) of 3500.00 for the low end laptop and then something goes awry & I’m blown off because they decide not enough people having the problem is important to them so the attitude is not to bother helping or publicly addressing or even admitting for goodness sakes. Awful awful way to handle things Apple. This is certainly not the only discussion on this subject online. Sorry if I came across abrupt but it drives me nutty when adults with smarts are spoken (written) to as though we are uneducated children. Some of these comments go way back. Apple ignores. I’ve said it before and again now, I have no doubt this is a hardware problem not a software problem where IOS updates can fix. Shame on Apple for ignoring their paying customers, the customers that pay their paychecks.

It will be interesting to me if my post here will be booted, that will say a lot more.

Agree! Got my 14 pro Saturday! HOLY HOT 🔥. I haven’t ordered a case yet, and it’s almost to hot to hold:(

I can’t get it to keep a charge either. It drains really fast.!!! Think I’ll be visiting Verizon this week.!

I had the 11 Pro too… I missed the screenshot button is being right across from each other:(I guess I gotta retrain my fingers! wish I could take “some” these newer features and put them on my 11pro!

Well said!!! so basically, I was thinking it was just my new iphone 14 pro that I just got last Saturday… but now I see that you’re saying even the replacements are having this problem. That’s kind of scary.🤔.

Now what do I downgrade to a 13 Pro or do I flip back over to galaxy? I always had iPhones then tried a galaxy and it kept overheating and not charging and having very similar problems so I came back to iPhone years ago. If this isn’t a fixable problem, I would consider switching back.🫤

There is something different with the 14pm.

l started out with iphone4 have had Apple products ever since. I use this one just like l used the previous ones. They never acted hot when l performed these same functions. Do not feel bad it’s not apps or anything you’re doing. I changed providers and ended up trying a different 14pm it heats the same way. Hopefully, if enough folks get their concerns out there, we will all be made whole. I am finally getting the impression it must be a costly fix.

I asked to replace it but the man in the Vodafone store said it’s normal, nah it’s not normal I said, same thing I returned in within 3weeks ago said go to apple store, then the man who examined the phone, nothing wrong 😑 oh noo.. so just comeback and I will return to the store and will complain again, I am unsure if they will replace it.😩

I’ve been told that after 2 days from the purchased of my phone, that can’t return or cancel the contract. So I observed the phone until now it’s been a month and 4 x been to the store and same thing explanation that there’s no issue found, if there’s another issue next time just come back they said and they will examine the hardware because the software works fine ooohh no…just frustrated 😖

I have stopped enjoying using the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Initially, I was upset by the very poor camera that can't focus up close at all. Now, after 5 months of use, I can't even take a few consecutive photos because the phone overheats so much that nothing works. Unfortunately, Apple has lost its way and started releasing blatantly unfinished and low-quality products that don't even last half a year.
