Voice to text is not working . The microphone is enabled and works in other apps, just not messages.

So I went into settings, and then general, and then keyboard and last, literally turned the enable dictation off and then back to on and it fixed the problem. I know it is ridiculously simple. Just to clarify, it was already on enable dictation but turning it off and then back on again worked for me. Hope it helps
Yes, yes, yes! I too tried everything short of restoring my iPhone. The thing that fixed it was suggested here.
Installing the Canadian (English) keyboard and deleting the American (English)keyboard. It's WORKING NOW!
My iphone did an update to 16.1.2 the other night and my microphone now works! Hope it lasts!!!
For German this solution also worked. I switched to Austria. The ones that do not work appear to be attempting to use a different dictation engine with a little blue microphone.
I posted what I thought was a fix (go to enable dictation and turn it off and then back on) but I found that this only works for about 5 minutes and then it shuts off again. Question: do your share a phone plan with someone else? I ask because sometimes my daughter will do something to her phone and it links to my phone. Which is super fun when all of a sudden I get her texts!!! lol. but if she does something to her settings it may reset to mine. I know that sounds nuts but the struggle is real!
I’m having the exact same problem. I get a blue microphone but no text ever appears. The only way I can voice to text is through Hey Siri!
I’m having the same issue. Voice text has stopped working, any commands to Siri asking to call someone fail, and any dictation fails. I’ve confined the setting (Settings > General > keyboards > enable dictations) is enabled
I have tried ALL of the suggestions from Apple, YouTube, etc. My microphone works everywhere EXCEPT to voice text in text messages and email. There HAS TO BE A PROBLEM. And I can see that others are having same problem during same time period. That suggests a problem overall for iphone 11 (I am on iOS 16.0).

Yea mine stopped working a few days ago on my 12. Everything is on it just doesn’t work on any apps for me. Siri works though.

I am only having issues in my text messaging app. Voice to text works in all other apps. I have followed instructions provided and made sure software was up to date. I have Iphone XR.
Voice to text is completely broken for me after the recent update. I rely on this every day as typing is hard on my hands! Fix this now! I have iPhone XR with iOS 16.0 20A362.
Agreed. Mine is broken too. It’s awful. Tried all the recommended fixes and no luck.
