I've imported mp4 files to Imovie for editing. In the tumbnail I see the image as well, however to the editing space (and in replay/export) I only hear sound. What to do?
(I've tried the obvious quit and restart and reboot my mac).
I have a macbook air with Catalina

Try deleting/resetting preferences. To delete/reset preferences, open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command
keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Possibly you may need to reboot to set the changes. Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.

I'm sorry, I don't mean the thumbnail. When I hover my cursor over the section it shows the image.
In iMovie I only get sound, but no image
