I am new to FCP.
1--The clips are broken up, lots of unwanted jump cuts in sound and audio. And they seem to be importing OUT of order.
2--Is there any way to import as one big clip?

Not if there are timecode breaks in the video. You will lose quite a bit as it picks up between breaks. You might be able to avoid this if you can copy the tape from one deck to another to get a clean, continuous recording.

from what i understand. QT does not allow import from cameras any longer. But I found a solution. I purchased 1 year subscription to LIFE FLIX. It's a basic app that just imports straight, doesn't break anything up because of timecode issues. Thanks
What about ingesting with QuickTime Player?
That's incorrect. The QuickTime Player can still capture HDV and DV from cameras and decks.
