I would like to get an Apple Watch but am concerned about possible allergic reaction. It looks like the only part that touches skin is the center of the back - the sensors for the health information. I’m told it is glass and stainless steel. Depending on the amount of nickel in it, it may or may not be a problem. Anyone with previous issues have a report on the new series 8? Thank you. Marion
the inner circle is only glass
there are many cases out there which covers anything but the glass part like this image shows

Are you close to an authorized reseller or Apple Store? If yes, go try some on and see if they trigger your allergy.
only metals one can be sure is nickel free are Nobel metals which would not include stainless steel

but to the best of my visual inspection the circle part of the watch is glass not metal
Thank you! I think the Apple Store person told me the circle in the middle with the health sensors is a combination of glass and stainless steel? May be much lower in nickel as a result, or have none at all depending on the stainless steel. I may have to just try it out….Thanks again.
Thanks. Tried them on yesterday to decide between the 41mm and 45 mm. In those few minutes of contact I had no reaction. However, it usually takes a few hours for bracelets and necklaces to start a rash. And it’s on the inner side of my wrist, not outer. So I’ll probably need to just take the plunge and try it! If it doesn’t work for me, my partner will get a nice gift! Thank you everyone !
