Already got a micro scratch on my iPhone 14 pro, Does Apple care+ cover micro scratches?

As you see on the title I got a micro scratch in my iPhone 14 pro. I don’t know when it happened but it defientntly happened before I got my screen protector. My question is if Apple care+ covers scratches it’s around half an inch but really bothers me

Not covered. But i also had a dozen different scratches in my first week with 14 pro max. I am VERY careful. I think it is a “manufactures defect” which is covered. If enough people have this issue then apple may declare this a covered issue.

also if you had applecare+ it wont cover a small scratch but if does cover more significant damage (like a hammer 🔨 to the screen). 🤔

And you will continue to get micro scratches until you put a good quality screen protector on your iPhone. Apple will not fix this.

Did you click and read the link I posted above? It explains very well why the screens can scratch easier, but are harder to break. Most people would prefer NOT to spend hundreds of dollars on a new screen when a $15 screen protector can prevent any scratches.

As you would know from reading this thread Apple does not cover cosmetic defects. And screens don’t scratch by themselves by magic. If a screen has a scratch someone or something scratched it. That means YOU scratched it or put it in a location where it was exposed to being scratched (a pocket with keys, for example).

Here's what happened and it's glass physics. People complained for years, their iPhone screen cracked too easily, even with minor drops and it costs as we know a lot to replace the screen on an iPhone. So, the last couple generations of iPhone have a new formula glass (most theorize, from Corning), which makes it much harder for the glass to break in a fall. But here's the rub, to make glass harder to crack in fall, means the glass by nature is easier to scratch. NO ONE has yet figured out how to make cell phone glass that is equally more difficult to break as well as scratch.

So yes, you likely won't have to pay for a broken screen, but it turns out we either live with micro scratches or put a good screen protector on. And if you do have micro scratches, putting a screen protector on now, will hide them and prevent future scratches. Read this article which does a better job of explaining this --> https://lifehacker.com/why-your-new-iphone-is-way-more-scratched-than-your-old-1848777631

Why pay for apple care even...

Guess in few years they will have another lawsuit and if they lose they'll compensate their users over this, it's what happened to me with a macbook pro I had, and I received a check from "apple consumer litigation" over it, get it together Apple, your Iphone 14 pro is expensive and it scratches at the bare touch of it. That's the reality, I would have appreciated a replacement so that I can put a screen protector on a unscratched device. Guess I'll deal with the constant comments on my device being scratched already!

If you believe that this is a manufacturing defect, then you need to take your phone to either the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or to an Apple Authorized Service Provider. There an Apple Technician can evaluate your phone and determine if they agree with you. If they do, then it would be covered by the basic Apple Hardware warranty. No one here (we are not Apple employees) can determine if your claim is valid or not.

I of course haven't seen your phone, so no, I have no clue how faint it might be.

When you say however, Apple's quality control hasn't been great, what you and many others fail to understand that while the newer iPhones have screens which are more durable, it's a double edged sword. To make glass more durable (meaning its less likely break in a fall), it has to be more pliable. And more pliable is softer, which can scratch more easily. Older phones didn't scratch as easily. But they had more brittle glass, so they shattered with more regularity when they were dropped.

Apple and Samsung and Google are all users these newer glass formulas, which won't break easily, but can and do scratch easily. This is why I put a good quality screen protector on every new iPhone I buy, before they even turned on or activated.

I'm glad you have now put one on your iPhone.
