Scrolling with the Netflix app not working

I have two Apple TVs— one a 4th Gen HD, and one a 4th Gen 4K(maybe that’s a 5th Gen.?). For the last week or two, I have had problems in the Netflix app. I have the older black Siri remotes. I can scroll up and down in the side menu, but when I go into the home, movies, TV shows, or new sections it will not allow me to scroll up and down into any of the categories. It will allow me to scroll all around within the my list section.

I have tried the following things

— force closing Netflix and opening it back up.

— using the Apple TV iOS remote app

— making sure Netflix is up to date

— completely deleting Netflix and reinstalling it

— unplugging the Apple TV and plugging it back in

— updating to tvOS 16.1

— call the Netflix support

At first, I thought that it might be a Netflix bug with these older black Siri remotes with the touchpad at the top. But then I had the same problems when trying to use the Apple TV iOS remote. Can anyone else confirm whether they are having the same issue in the Netflix app? Netflix support said that they would send the issue onto their engineers, but I thought I would see if there are other Netflix Apple TV users that can confirm the issue. I am seeing it on both of my Apple TVs using two different remotes as well as the iOS remote app.

I figured out the solution. I'm not sure if it's a bug that needs fixed in Netflix or with the TVOS, but the following solved the problem.

I had recently turned on the Accessibility>Hover Text>On feature so that my aging eyes could read menus easier. After a month or so of this Netflix scrolling issue being unresolved (even with repeated attempts), I decided to try turning the Hover Text feature off. Netflix immediately began working correctly. Just out of curiosity, I turned Hover Text back on and Netflix seems to still be working okay. I will continue to keep an eye on it to make sure that the issue is fully resolved, but it seems that toggling the setting off and then back on fixed whatever UI/remote glitch was happening.

I am SO happy to have this issue fixed as I much prefer Netflix through my Apple TV than through my TiVo device.
