Brand new phone not turning on

I just bought a iPhone 14 pro max last week and it will not turn on. It is charged but the screen is just black. I have tried turning it on.

NOTE: You can go right to point 3 below, if you like, and bypass the first two points. This is because your iPhone 14 is new and is still under Apple’s 1YR Limited Warranty. You should take advantage of it and have it examined at the Apple Store or at an Authorized Service Center.


(1) Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF). 

(2)  If the above does not work then - Follow the instructions in this article by Apple ➔ If your iPhone is Non-Responsive or Frozen and see if that helps.

(3)  If that does not help then have your iPhone examined at the Apple Store or at an Authorized Service Center. You may also 👉 Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support
