I tried updating to 12.6.1 today. When I go to authenticate with my account password the dialog box just shakes in its “no no no” fashion. I have tried both user and Adam account passwords. I have restarted my Mac Studio. No trouble logging into either account. So what gives?

Make sure you have not enabled systemwide security in recovery. This can prevent the administrative password from working right.
