Monterey 12.6.1 updater not recognizing account password

I tried updating to 12.6.1 today. When I go to authenticate with my account password the dialog box just shakes in its “no no no” fashion. I have tried both user and Adam account passwords. I have restarted my Mac Studio. No trouble logging into either account. So what gives?
