On ios 16.1 - The post login Homescreen wallpaper keeps disappearing into a jet black background even though all the app icons still show up as they were - rebooting the phone restores the wallpaper till I have locked/unloced the phone 3 to 4 times and then back to black background.
Any workaround?

Mine was doing the same thing and I finally think I discovered how to fix it.
After I did that, my lock screen appeared as it should.
Wallpaper problem has returned on iOS 16.2. Was fixed in the update from 16.1, but has reappeared.

I want to try deleting previous lock screens so it won’t keep going back to a previous one, but I need help figuring out how to delete previous screens
I can’t see your whole post- it stops at ‘“an apple analyst”.. was the analyst able to give you a good idea?
I saw that someone deleted their previous screens, but I can’t find a way to do that.

I have an iPhone 12 pro max and it is currently producing a black background for everything except the lock screen and I don’t know how to change it
My solution: I realized that I had SLEEP FOCUS turned on! So the iphone was trying to do the right thing by making my Lock Screen black. Swipe to the control center and turn off Sleep.
This did not work for me but upgrading to the latest release, IOS 16.5 did fix the problem.
Update your iPhone to the latest operating system which is 16.5 or 16.6. That fixed the problem for me on my iPhone 11.
