AirPods Pro 2 case is draining battery without using the AirPods

Hi,

Battery on my AirPods Pro 2 case is draining 20 - 25 % a day without using the AirPods. I have the latest firmware. Is anyone else having the same problem? Thanks

Did you already try to reset the AirPods?

If this does not work, get the case checked by visiting an Authorized Apple Service Provider or contacting Apple Support about that:

Same here. I use the headphones for a maximum of an hour a day, but at the same time, on the same day, on average 3-4 times I see a notification about ~ -10% of the battery level of the headphone case. Locator is on. I never had an AirPods Pro and at first I didn’t understand at all what was going on until I found this thread.

Run my third set of AirPod Pro 2 until case and pods fully drained, 12 hours of use, not great. Prior to been fully drained, case was at 31% and I expected some charge to the pods but this didn’t happen, when last used the pods they were at 71% and went to use them the following day both case and pods had no charge.

There is something seriously wrong with this Apple product, the latest set will be going back for a replacement.

Agreed the AirPods Pro 2 are the worst Apple product ive ever had too, on my fourth pair and have had battery drain issues with all four. The current pair, after 2 hours use, the case is at 58%, quite pathetic. I’m continuing monitor and as previously, will do a full reset, switch off ‘find me’ and auto ear detection which in the past has made little difference, no improvement and this pair will be going back to the Apple Store. Clearly defective products are been sold (possibly produced by the manufacturer Apple dropped in November 2022) and this issue needs to be fixed with a product recall or firmware update.

Checked in to return my 4th pair of AirPod Pro 2’s. I’ve done all the recommended resets, turning things off etc, the battery drain on this product is pathetic, production faults haven’t been addressed with a recall or firmware fix. The drain since I got these replacements has continued as per previous pairs. I was going to persist with them but it’s got worse still. Case yesterday was 49%, used pods for 1hr, case dropped to 39%, left pods overnight in case and was 5% in the morning!!!! What’s going on with this product?

Good morning I’m having some serious issues with my AirPods Pro 2nd gen battery case. Me and my husband bought a pair (off Amazon and from staple) in December and we didn’t really open them or use them until last week! Both of our battery cases are losing 10-15% of battery overnight with out use (the airpods them selves are fine) but wether the case is charging the AirPods or just sitting by itself it loses about 1% of battery per hour. Today I fully charged the case and both the pods and the case were at 100% and left on my table and we check my pair and my wife’s and both charging cases were down to 52% after 40h of just sitting on the table with out use. My cousin and friend and also has a pair and they’re reporting the same issue with their pair, I went online and found many users complaining about the same issue, my friend got his pair replaced 2 times already and the issue is still there …I read online that some people had this issue fixed when they turned off find my for the AirPods but we’ve tried that and it didn’t work for us, it seems like a software issue please help I do not wish to get my case or AirPods replaced as these are brand new and since my family Members and my friends along with many other people reported the Same issue I doubt it’s a hardware issue. I have a pair of AirPods 2nd gen  and the case barely looses 1-3% overnight not 10-15% like the 2nd gen pros

Update: got my case replaced twice from apple now and have paired it with a new iPhone 13 Pro Max that I just purchased I removed the AirPods Pro 2 from old device and find mine and paired with new phone and the FUc ISSUE IS STILL THERE!! Fu i can’t even return them it’s past the 14 day window and case is now losing a solid 20% each night without use and with use I’m getting about 2 charges in the pod so about 12h listening time ….

I have the same issues. The case is using way too much battery to charge the AirPods and the standby drain if the case is ridiculous. I am getting literally half of the advertised listening time with 50-60% volume and no spatial audio.

I though that some random disconnections and the case not making sounds when closing was an issue, but it’s nothing compared to the horrible battery life.

Battery drain on case is terrible, took it to Apple Store as fully drained after 8-9hrs use versus advertised 24hrs. Store replaced the case, after c. 1hrs use and recharges the replacement case is now at 88% so the issue still not resolved by Apple. Will continue to monitor and if necessary revisit Store and request full replacement of product.

Same here! My airport pro 2 case battery was discharging by itself when I wasn’t using it! I replaced the airports 2 with new ones and I get the same problem again and again. It must be a software problem. I think it is because “Find my” keeps connecting to them and it consumes a lot of batteries. It might also be because of the battery widget that makes the case be connected to the phone at all times. I don’t know but we really need a solution for this.

My case is 0% battery after 3 days of use or just not even an hour of use per day.

They wouldn't replace mine, same problems. I sent them in and they sent them right back, "nothing wrong with the product." They looked at them for 45 minutes so how could they know they were draining? Apple Care is not nearly as easy as it used to be. I think they are just planning to update the software/firmware in the future. Until then we have to deal with the draining.
