Extremely slow external SSD read and write speed after Ventura update - MacBook Pro 16 M1 Max

Machine = MacBook Pro 16 M1 Max.

Since the Ventura update all my external drives are transferring at around 5-30MB/s down from around 800-900MB/s. I have a mix of Crucial, Samsung, and Kingston SSD drives which they all have the same problem.

Reinstalled the Ventura update with support, did not help, all drives have been tested on an identical MacBook Pro running Monterey and they work as normal.

Im struggling to make a Time Machine backup as it keeps failing, and transferring to my backup drive takes an extremely long time.

I work in Video, and its brought all my apps to a crawl as the read write speed is so slow. This is affecting my work, so help would be greatly appreciated.

1, has anyone had this problem?

2, how easy is it to go back to Monterey as this laptop is critical for my work,

3, any possible solutions?

Hurray I've solved the problem,I experienced my drives get slow

immediately I upgraded from Monterey to Ventura so I was sure all my

drives were fine since 30 mins before they were working fine on Monteray before the upgrade.

Here's what I did I figured that since my external

hard drive activity light was continuously blinking probably a process

that was utilizing the drive, my guess was Spotlight search was indexing

my drive so I added it to the privacy exclusion list by going to system

settings, then Siri & spotlight and at the bottom selecting

spotlight privacy, I then dragged and dropped my external drive to the

exclusion list then selected done, now every drive I add to the

exclusion list works fine, ANOTHER OPTION would be to leave your drives pluged in and let spotlight finish indexing them and they will work just fine after some time though it may take a while to index them so be patient.

Unfortunately doesn't work for me ;( (steps 2 and 3 there is no open app on my end) I also made new user and no help :( any other solutions anyone?

Even clean install of monterey did not solve the problem on my end :(

Just retested my drives which are WD NVME drives in a USB3 enclosure and a TB enclosure. All show speeds to spec with Monterey and about 10% slower with Ventura. So no real issue on this end.

I have both Ventura and Monterey on M1 Macbook Pro (Ventura) and M1 Air and I tried Sandisk and Samsung T7 and actually the write/read speed is a bit slower on Monterey ..

Others have reported speed issues with the Samsung 980 when using Macs for some reason. I have WD NVME Black or blue drives that work at advertised speeds.

This issue still exist in Macos Sonama tried with 1tb ssd previouly it was transfererring data at 500mb/sec now it move to 40mb/sec cap, M2 Max 32gb ram 16inch macbook pro, Please help
