Hi - I just bought a pair of Xtrainerz (ok, now openswim) and I was surprised that they actually are shown in finder (since the second try, not from the beginning, kinda weird).
How do I best convert m4p files (iTunes) to mp3? or what is the best format anyway? Shokz can manage mp3, wav, aac, wma, flac

If they are actually m4p, they are DRM-protected. They cannot be used outside the Apple ecosystem, nor can they be converted.
MP3 and AAC are generally the most portable formats.

Glad it is working Here is one way to speed it up, especially on playlists with multiple artists (and having their files distributed around many folders): Create a new folder on your Desktop called "ForOpenSwim." Highlight the tracks you want in iTunes/Music and drag them to the new folder. This will put a copy into the folder without changing the library copy. Then, back to Finder and proceed as above to drag the files from ForOpenSwim into your device.
Start with a short playlist so you can make sure it is working as desired. Any questions, pls post back.

If I understand the Xtrainerz site correctly, it should go like this: Connect the device to your MacBook via USB and let it show up in Finder as a Location called Xtrainerz. Then you can drag files into it.
It is not using the iTunes (or Music) app. Just drag-n-drop the song files within Finder.
Per your original post make sure the files are non-protected. AAC or MP3 would work best.
Thanks - it's really tricky to get music on the XTrainerz if you only have a MacBook :-(
