Generic icons appearing in Mail attachments
Since upgrading to macOS Ventura, a number of attachment types such as PDF attachments in Mail are appearing as generic blank icons. How do I resolve this problem?

I would simply wait for point updates to follow the macOS 13.0
or
updates to follow from your default PDF reader or third party for ex Adobe...
Thanks for the update. That is odd though - .docx and .pptx aren't affected for me ; and I thought others too. Do you have powerpoint and word installed?
.pdf we all know about - doesn't matter what is installed.
It is cosmetic - but then so are Apple.
Yes, I have the whole MS Office suite installed, but only docx and pptx but not xlsx are affected.
However, I do suspect that the problem is buried in the user account, because when creating a virgin second user account, the problem does not occur. Of course, there was a legacy element, when migrating the user account from my old Mac to the new virgin Ventura that could have caused this -- but no icon problems ever existed on the old MacOS.
This would also explain why different file types may be affected for different people.
It maybe hard to find the root of this problem...
I have the same problem too. pdf or docx icon not showing in mail attachment with ventura
I verified the problem persists with 13.1 update as I previously posted. Also this is true with JPEG and PNG documents.
Yeah, the bug persists with 13.1. Alas.
The blank icons persist in Ventura 13.2 as well...

Thanks for the hint. I also knew about this and tried it before. No luck. I just tried a few more times to see if it would help in the most recent Ventura update. No luck.
I am having this same issue. Started in 13.1, continuing in 13.2
Tried this as well, no luck
Mac OS 13.2.1 and the problem is still there. What happened Apple????
Yeah, I’m confirm that in 13.2.1 problem is still here.
This is such an obvious bug. Just sort of sloppy.
Can you provide us with the steps that you took to resolve issue? And I will ask why this problem occurs on new installation without any old data on new machines?
Clean installs and safe mode do not help. I tried both.
Was your issue generic icons appearing for attachments in Mail or generic icons in the Finder??
