Always BCC Myself not always working when "Reply All" is used ios 16.1

Finally my BCC Myself is working, but not always when I select the Reply All function to write an email.

It shows the Cc/Bcc, From & then my email address making you think its there, but its not.

Other times it's working correctly. I can't determine why it's only working sometimes & at other times its not. Very confusing.

I've tried all the things, update my iPhone, restart my iPhone.

It works correctly when just Reply is selected on all emails.

As this works sometimes & not others I keep getting caught out. Then of course you can't send that email as an attachement to yourself, so its impossible to get it into my computer email account. Very frustrating!

How do I fix this?

Thanks for getting back to us, Wunda.

Do you have other devices with the email? If so, does it happen there as well?

Are you able to log into your email service providers's website and check your emails from there? If so, try doing the same steps there as you do on your iPhone. If the issue still occurs with the website, then it would be best to reach out to the email service provider for further help on this.

Additional, double check your email settings to make sure everything is still accurate: Mail - Official Apple Support

One last thing to try, do you have the same issue if you don't BCC yourself? Like are you able to add a different email address to see if it occurs? These steps can help narrow things down.

Best regards.

G'day Matthew

Thanks for your reply.

I don't have other ios devices that I use with POP3 email. I do have other Windows devices running Outlook & these can Reply All without issue. On these I have a rule set in Outlook to CC myself & this always works 100%.

On my service providers website there isn't an option to "always BCC myself" on reply. Isn't this is a specific ios feature?

Everything is set as per "Mail - Official Apple Support".

What I can't explain is why this BCC yourself works on most emails when using Reply All, but then it just doesn't work on certain emails. I can't determine what causes this to work & not to work. It appears random, but on those emails where it doesn't work, it won't ever work on them.

I tried using two different email addresses for the BCC myself, & these don't make a difference. It still doesn't BCC me at either address. But only on some emails. The majority of times (70%) it works OK.

Regards

Alan

Hello Wunda,

The key to finding a solution to an issue like this is determining what those emails that fail have in common, and is different from the emails where the BCC works as expected.

Is it only emails to certain recipients?

Are they using the same email domain?

You mention it only happens when you, "Reply All:". Is there a common email addresses once you include "Reply All:" that are in every failed message?

If you have more than one POP 3 account, does it happen in only one account, or in all of them?

This information should help narrow down what is causing this to fail when it does.

Have a good day.

G'day srbwanderer

I really can't find anything in common with these emails. They are when the email is addressed to me as well as when I'm the copy email address. Quite frustrating I can tell you.

This occurs to multiple recipients.

They are using different domains & obviously different email addresses.

It occurs with two email addresses I've used.

It happens on the two pop3 accounts I have and that I've used & tested this on. One is a POP3 via my outlook.com.au account & the other is our companies POP3 account, not connected with any other mailing system.

There just doesn't seem to be anything they have in common. Even other emails from a sender who didn't get my email address as a BCC on Reply All, will have my email address in the Reply All. That is, one of their emails this function works and on others it doesn't.

Even if I send another reply all to the email that's failed it will always fail, but on another email from the same address it will always work!

It happens so randomaly it's frustrating and what makes it worse is once I've sent an email without realising the Reply All didn't work, I can't send it to myself as an attachment.

So it means I don't have a clean sent email in my pop3 account.

Regards

Alan
