IOS 16.1 safari html5 audio tag not working

I have issues with the html5 audio tag on several sites using safari on IOS 16.1. For example on this page there is a simple code, but it isn't working for me: https://www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml5_audio_all

After a while the loading indicator stops and it shows -00:00 as playback time and nothing happens when I click on the play button.

Hello Balee777,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We want to help get the audio working on these websites when using Safari on your iPhone.

Let’s try a normal restart to see if that helps to quickly resolve this.

"How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later

  1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
  3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."

Our Apple Support page has the full steps if needed: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

If the issue remains, does it happen on multiple Wi-Fi networks?

We hope this helps to further isolate the source of the issue.

Cheers!
