iOS 16.1 Battery drain when using Youtube

Hello,

I noticed after updating to iOS 16.1 that my iPhone 14 Pro gets overheated and battery drains too fast when I’m playing youtube in the background.

I did not experience this with the other iOS 16

Am I the only one here ?

Hello Naruga,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities!

Are you only experiencing this issue with the YouTube app? If so, do you currently have any available updates for the app in the App Store? This will help with checking: How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support

If this is only happening in the YouTube app and updating doesn't seem to help, you'll want to reach out to YouTube support directly. As the app developers, they will be best suited to look in to that with you. This can help with reaching out to them: How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

Cheers!

Thanks for getting back to us, Naruga. It’s appreciated.

About the battery usage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support -- First, get a piece of paper/pen or use one of the apps on your iPhone (such as Notes), and write down the top 5 apps' battery usage for the past 24 hours and past 7 days.

Batteries - Maximizing Performance - Apple -- Then, review the information in this section, and apply the steps provided. Then, use your iPhone as you normally would.

After a few days, check the battery usage again and compare it to the list you created at the beginning. Has it improved?

Please let us know the results when you're able.

All the best.
