External 5k (LG 49WL95C) monitor problems after Ventura update

I downloaded the latest update Ventura this weeks and my monitor does't work afterwards. My external 5k (LG 49WL95C) monitor no longer works.

The screen goes completely garbled, I can see the mouse cursor, but everything else is completely distorted.

I have tried using a USB-C direct into the monitor, as well as a USB-C to DisplayPort And HDMI.

Please help?

I have the same issue with my Samsung Odyssey 49". I have used this for 2 years or something like this, with a USB-C -> DP. Running 5120x1440. Worked perfectly until upgrade to Ventura.

Now both screens on my Mac and external Samsung is filled with lot of differens colors, can't see anything on it. Seems to be the same issues as mentioned above.

Tried with HDMI + adapter, DP + adapter, USB-C. Nothing helps.

Please help.

I have exactly the same problem. All attempts to get the monitor running have been unsuccessful. A complete reinstallation with deleting the hard drive and subsequent data migration via Time Machine did not solve the problem either. Today I reinstalled my MBP (13'', 2018) again with wiping the hard drive but without data migration. Since then the monitor works as usual again. This points to settings from the old system or my user that should not be transferred from Monterey to Ventura.

I am now trying to find out which setting could be causing this. Maybe it could be an application that has left some remaining settings in the configs.

Thank you for sharing! That's a lot of work for updating our mac.... Hope they fix this ASAP.

I think one of the problems is the removal of the "scale" function on display. My monitor are working if I'm reducing the screen to 2/3. But it looks stupid with 1/3 black screen... haha. I have used a lot of time googling it, and it seems like it's the "Wide screen" users that are having problem with this.

Hmm... I was apparently wrong there. After I restarted the Mac with the display connected, the error reappeared. So it's not because of any settings, but because of the WindowServer process. If you kill it once, when the display only shows garbage, the display is obviously recognized correctly and reinitialized. Works reliably so far.

The error also seems to affect only older devices. An MBP from 2020 always works reliably.
