Problems macOs Ventura and Photos App.

After downloading macOs Ventura to my iMac. Editing photos in the Photos app is having problems. I use a Nikon Z7, i shoot in raw. Photos are nice and clear from the camera card. When i edited thru Photos App, photos are blurry and not focused. Had no problems with Monterey. Called Apple support, no help.

wrt using DXO as a photo organizer...I'm embarrassed by how little organization finds my image collection. It's a mosh pit of chaos....DXO is terrific package and I'm sure it could do good job organizing the mess (as well as Lightroom), but operator headspace errors seem to impede. I shoot with my Sony's a lot, unfortunately Sony's Imaging Edge package is terrible for organizing. In the viewer module, files appear in the window in a random arrangement rather than sequentially by file name or imaging date. Makes it impossible to evaluate bracketed exposures efficiently.

FYI. I'd poo-poohed the whole AI nonsense in other arena, but have been testing DXO's and Adobe's AI noise reduction tools, and I'm blown away. It opens up a whole range of shooting conditions in low light with high ISO that I never ventured into before. Pricing models for both packages just annoy one, however.

Oddly, I received (13 Jan 2024) a kind of attaboy from Apple, "Thanks for your help" relating to a single upvote on one of my posts earlier in this longish thread. Never have gotten one of these before, and frankly, my post was more along the lines of whining that I sometimes do to make me feel better when SW misbehaves from expectations. Maybe just a marketing gimmick, but, what the heck. I see a lot of contributors have offered significant, better informed inputs in the discussion with detailed technical info on HW and image sources etc. Do you all regularly such notices from Apple? I wonder if it means they actually noticed the issues we all were flagging and sorted them out partly due to this thread. Here we are though in Sonoma era now, and if you are like me, breathless for the 14.3 upgrade (yes, mine is a small life).

I will say that I'm quite glad the issues seems as I would have been annoyed to have lost this serendipitous shot to goofy post processing:

This is interesting - an acknowledgement by Apple that there is an issue but unfortunately my MacBook Pro is a 2017 edition and will not support the new OSX Sonoma.

I have only recently updated from Mojave direct to Ventura and now have this problem - never had it before. Did you find any form of workaround with Ventura? I shoot RAW (Canon 5D mk3) - I tried the suggested rotation and it didn't to make any difference to the quality on screen or after export.

Hello everyone,

I am also suffering the same problems as you all are with blurred edited photos (shot in Raw and downloaded on 'Photos'). I recently upgraded from Mojave (no problems) straight to Ventura and since then, have had problems.

It is clear that Apple has not fixed this issue and that people are still having the problem with Sonoma (which my old MacBook Pro will not support anyway).

I am thinking of biting the bullet and simply (well not that simply) resetting my MacBook and installing OSX Big Sur (apparently Apple will do this for free on a Genius Bar appointment). This will be a few editions later than Mojave and I hope will reset 'Photos' to avoid this problem. My question is this - has anyone had this problem with OSX Big Sur or has it only occurred in Ventura?

Any advice/info. gratefully received - thanks in advance.
