Since my last iMac update, the Share function has disappeared from Pages. How can I find it to use it again?

Hello VA-Gent,

If you're looking to send a copy of a Pages document, you can do so with these steps:

  1. "With the document open, choose File > Send a Copy (from the File menu at the top of your screen), then choose a sending option.

If you send using AirDrop, your recipient must accept the file to receive it.

Mail and Messages send a copy directly.

Notes saves a copy in your own Notes files.

2. Select a format for the copy, then specify settings

3. If there’s a “Require password to open” checkbox, you can select it to limit access to the document.

4. Click Next, then provide the requested information (an email address if you’re sending an email, for example)."

The problem is that File > Send a Copy no longer gives the option to change file format. It only sends as a pages document. The only way around this is to Export to > ... save the file and then send (email etc) from there. The latest update has lost the simplicity of one step sending of different file formats.

The Share menu item is gone from Pages v12.2. So is the Send a Copy tool from the View menu > Customize Toolbar…, and despite what Apple states in the What's New in Pages panel, the File menu > Send a Copy menu item is also gone. A clean flush of user productivity features (and associated habits) that have been available since 2013 in this Pages generation. I am now convinced that the product design team hasn't a clue how their product is used by real people outside of Apple.

Your only means to attach file formats other than Pages documents to a new Mail compose window is by File menu > Export To and then manually drag and drop (attach) that exported document format onto the Mail compose window.

It might be possible to combine an AppleScript to perform the Pages export function and then attach the user selected files to a new Mail compose window, but it would be voluminous code and I don't have that time luxury.
