Apple Mail and creating reminders. Do I miss something?

Hello,

in Apple Mail I tested the new function to add reminders to e-mails. But it works only when the mail is in the inbox - and stays there. As soon as I move the mail to a folder the reminder disappears. Does this makes sense?

I try to keep my inbox empty. And it would just make sense to keep the reminder for that mail in the Reminder box no matter where this mail is kept - so I do not forget the mail. As soon as the mail is back in the inbox I see the mail - and this is already a reminder.

Why did Apple not use the Reminder API for reminders in Mail?

In my opinion this new function looks great when reading about it - but using it ... well ...

Are there any other (easy) ways to create a reminder for mails?

Greetings,

Claus

I've been using Daylite Mail integration app for this but lately it's been crashing Mail and Daylite repeatedly (buggy). So, I just tried dragging the email to Apple Reminders and to Calendar. Both apps added the email as either a reminder or event with edit available. Moved the source email to other "boxes" and the new event or remainder remained as I had placed it. So, that seems to work. I'm running Ventura on M1 MBP16. (Tried doing this with the Daylite Calendar and it wasn't having any of that, but it's a SQL database, so understandable.). Hopefully they will fix the bug since it's a useful feature.
