"Payment & Shipping" asking to download "Music" from "App Store".

In:

"Settings" / "Apple ID" / "Payment & Shipping" .

This message pops up when I select "Payment & Shipping".

It asks to download "Music" from "App Store".

Just curious why.

I haven't used "Music" app for anything.

This happens to me as well. I can see my payment methods in the media & purchases, but never had this issue when selecting Payment & Shipping in the past. I don’t use Apple Music, so don’t want it on my phone.

I did restore it just to see what happens. So now when I click on the payment & shipping, it still opens Apple Music, but then I can see the payments I have on file. I shouldn’t have to have Apple Music downloaded in order to see those, especially if I don’t use that app.

It feels half baked. I get it that the Music app also needs to handle purchases, but for a brief second the window goes from the settings panel and you can see the back ground, bringing up the Music app, which does not instill in his confidence in trying to establish my payment method in general . The fact that you can also get there from the Media and Purchases menu just seem janky. I like to know the one place I can go on my device, or account to manage my payment methods. What am I missing?

I’m having this issue as of today when I tried to download a new app. It prompts me to enter my password and then takes me to payment methods. Then I try to look at payment methods through the settings and when I click on it, it prompts me to download the music app. Why? I’m not trying to do anything with the music app. Trying to download a completely different app.

this is a garbage change. i know its intentional, but i dont use apple music, i use my phone for calls or text, and spotify when i walk, thats it. i dont want apple music, nor do i like be dictated how to use MY phone. i reported this on applesupport on twitter & the person who replied acted like it was news to them, but once i googled it i see loads of people complaining about this. betwee nthe battery & performance reducing updates, the lack of 3.5mm jack & the 'this is how you can use your phone' attitude, im thinking this is my last iphone.

I had to download the Apple Music app in order for me to check my subscriptions payments. And it wouldn’t allow me to do so until I downloaded the music app. Once I did I was able to check my payment method and my subscriptions. Once I checked it and also made sure I wasn’t getting charged for Apple Music I deleted the music app. But it was weird that I couldn’t check my payment method until I downloaded that music app but hopefully it will not be a problem again.

Hi SravanKrA,

The author "___D___" asked a question asking about viewing "Payment & Shipping" information.

Specifically, the question is why selecting Settings => Apple ID => Payment & Shipping results in a prompt to download Apple Music? (or in my case, why does selecting "Payment & Shipping" open Apple Music?).

That being so, what is the relevance of your response informing the author how to redownload music in Apple Music? How does that answer the author's question?
