authenticator did not transfer to my new phone

I just got an iphone 14 pro and just realized that the Authenticator needed a special transfer. I have already erased and recycled my old phone. How do I get my Authenticator to work?

Hey beanogambino,

Sounds like you're talking about a 3rd party authenticator app which didn't transfer to your new iPhone or perhaps the content within the authenticator didn't transfer over. This would all be completely dependent upon the authenticator you're using though. Some offer backups, and others don't. You'd need to check with the app developer to find out whether the authenticator you're using has cloud backups available or not for recovery and if not, you're going to need to set that back up again manually for each site you had set up for use with it.

For instance Google Authenticator doesn't have cloud backups available, however Microsoft Authenticator does offer this option. If the authenticator you're using doesn't offer cloud backups, it might instead use a secret key or backup code in order to transfer to a new device.

For help with contacting the app developer to find out more details specific to the authenticator you're using, check out: How to contact an app developer

We hope this information helps out.
