iPad Pro touch screen randomly unresponsive

There are already quite a few threads about this with hundreds of responses but I am advised by the Apple discussions AI that I should start a new thread.

One thread has over 3000 other people indicating that they have the same problem and like everybody else, I assume, I have tried every suggestion - some many times (like the definition of insanity, expecting different results).

I have an iPad Pro 12.9 with 512GB (less than half used) now on iPadOS 16 and the problem seems to be getting worse - to the point that the screen only seems to respond about half the time and coupled with the dysfunctional keyboard suggestions and autocorrect makes any kind of text input a nightmare.

Has anybody found a persistent solution? Or had a satisfactory response from Apple?
