QuickLook doesn't work for .css files

I have a typical UTF-8 encoded file: style.css

For some reason quicklook will only display a generic file icon when I hit the space bar instead of the contents of the file like it used to.

.css is a very common file type for web development, why isn't quicklook working? If I change the file name to end in .txt or .md it works fine.

How can I get quicklook to start working for .css ?

  • MacBook Pro (16in 2021)
  • Confirmed it doesn't work in a VM running Ventura either

I see some opening and other not in quicklook— I suspect this depend on how they were created or last opened or how you have the "Open With" default set.

Command i opens the info pane for the default —>open with

for example: compared a list of css files...some do, some don't

compare file #2 same name, different file, different result

I see no difference here in `macOS Ventura compared to earlier macOS.

I would simply use a text editor to open your style sheet....
