I can't install MacOS Ventura.

When I try to install the latest MacOS (Ventura), it stops and gives me this popup:

Why is this occurring, and how do I fix this? My computer is currently on Big Sur.

I've tried a few methods, including:

  • Restarting
  • Trying to activate Safe Boot mode, but I don't know how to do this on Big Sur, as all the articles about this feature appear to be written after Monterey or so.

How is safe mode the same as this error received when trying to update to Ventura? Do you get this error when trying to enter safe mode? Or, are you supposed to? Safe mode was one of the troubleshooting steps apple support suggested when I called for assistance in trying to update to Ventura; albeit, it didn’t work. Only to realize on a later call to apple support that there’s a bug in Ventura right now causing this error and stopping users from updating. If you’re on Ventura already, you skated by it. If you’re receiving this error, safe mode won’t fix it and you’ll just have to wait until apple pushes out the fix. Like I illustrate later in this thread: might not be such a bad thing. Who wants an OS full of bugs anyway?

Same experience here. I’m running a 2019 MacBook Pro on Monterey 12.6.1. I called support several times, and in the last communication was finally told that this is an ongoing, reported issue that we’ll just have to wait for a fix from Apple to resolve. Stinks; but, after reading some of the issues people are having with Ventura, waiting for a proper fix sounds better than fighting the hardware and other software issues that came with this upgrade. I’ll be watching and waiting for now. Let’s hope Apple doesn’t become the next “Microsoft” pushing out technologies not ready to be shipped for years to come! Good luck!!

The method used to boot into Safe Mode is the same in Big Sur as it was in previous versions. Was in response to this part of the question…
