Not receiving calls

Not receiving calls on Iphone 13 Pro

I have a new iPhone 13 Pro, and for more than 3 weeks now, I am unable to receive phone calls. Internet based calls (WhatsApp, FaceTime) working fine, just cellular phone calls are the problem. I do not even receive a missed call alert, I receive voicemails though. I do receive texts and my data plan is working. Another weird thing is, if I am already on a call and someone else calls me then the call comes through. I am using Lycamobile and after I started facing this problem, I contacted them and got a new SIM card, ported my old number to new SIM card but alas the problem is still there. When I put my SIM to another iPhone (iPhone XR), or put another Lycamobile SIM card into my phone, both work. It seems like a weird combination of my old number and iPhone combination, which is not working.

I have tried all the recommendations from Apple viz. airplane mode trick, soft resetting, swapping out simcards and many more things. Both my Call forwarding and Call waiting are off. I have spoken to Apple service desk and Lycamobile many times but the problem persists.

Is anyone else facing the same problem or knows how to fix it?

Thanks,

Pabi

Hi Pabitras,

Apple couldn't find any issue. They open my iphone and returned as it.

Loss of $40 (they removed my screen guard and didn't replace it :(

I think I figured out the problem and kind of fixed it myself.

  1. Sim swap doesn't work (moving old lycamobile no new sim).
  2. I am nearly sure that most likely in the past you may have ported your number (from another career) to LycaMobile. (this is what my case was).

If this is true, and you want to stick to Lycamobile, then read below -

Order a new sim with the plan of your preference.

  1. Activate and take a new number with lycamobile.
  2. this will work like charm and no problem in Iphone 13.
  3. set call forwarding on your old number to this new number.
  4. This will give you some time to update your current number with all your contacts.

I updated this workaround to Lycamobile customer care and they were not aware that the problem seems to be with the ported numbers.

Let me know if that work out for you. also vote my answer helpful if you feel.

Thanks

This is all because of the Ios 16 update, Apple and lyca both blaming each other.

My new lyca number is working fine in the same iphone. This means probably the problem is at Lyca side, may the old numbers are most affected.

I am having the exact same issue. It started happening over 2 weeks ago randomly. After going back and forth between Apple and Lycamobile, Apple still thinks the issue is with the carrier. I have a ticket in progress with Lycamobile and they told me I need to turn on VoLTE but I don’t even have that option on my phone, so now they had to escalate it so they can add that to my carrier settings options. They did tell me that this is a known issue and many users are experiencing this problem.

This is exactly what is happening with my phone. In my iphone 13 no lycamobile sim works. I visited the apple store - got a new sim, ported my number to new sim also the problem is still persist. It is not making any calls either.

The problem is not with the sim or lycamobile it is with the iphone 13. Because if i put my sim in another apple phone it works.

Apple store engineer reproduce and verified the problem and send my devise for repair. The current status showed that the repair facility is returning the original phone because they could not reproduce the issue. It is the iphone 13 that has a problem

Up to now my experience with apple support was very good and I was very satisfied with the customer support.

I will come to know more when I go to collect my phone.

My Lyca SIM works on my old iPhone 7, which makes Apple admit it is a phone problem, although they couldn't figure out what problem it is. Then I tried my daughter's Lyca SIM on my iphone13 Promax, weird enough, her lyca sim works on my phone. Lyca now acknowledges that they are aware of the problem and the tech team is working on it. But they are not sure when they expect to fix it.

It seems that it is a weird combination - some iphone with updated iOS16 using lyca SIM maybe?

I think I am going to have to switch carriers. They are absolutely impossible to work with and it does not seem like anyone there knows what they are doing. I have called FOUR times now to ask for updates on my case and they tell me the exact same thing each time “turn on the VoLTE” and I’ve told them, once again FOUR times, that I do not have that option on my phone and that Apple told me the carrier needs to update that and they continue to tell me “turn it on”. Would not give me a refund even though this issue has been going on now for 3.5 weeks and they just told me that they turned off my auto pay so I don’t get charged again since I’m having issues, but then I won’t be able to use my phone at all unless I go in and make the payment. I told them I did not request for the autopay to be turned off so they need to turn it back on and all they said is “we can’t do that”. I am so over this awful company.

OMG I am experiencing exactly the same problem! Lycamobile as carrier…couldn’t receive calls…changed sim and still the same problem…no missed call notification… kicked back and forth between Apple and lycamobile…

I went far to erase my phone per recommendation of Apple, which created a series of other problem for me as my backup size is more than 100G… imagine my pain…

Now have you found out a fix for this issue?
