Not receiving calls

Not receiving calls on Iphone 13 Pro

I have a new iPhone 13 Pro, and for more than 3 weeks now, I am unable to receive phone calls. Internet based calls (WhatsApp, FaceTime) working fine, just cellular phone calls are the problem. I do not even receive a missed call alert, I receive voicemails though. I do receive texts and my data plan is working. Another weird thing is, if I am already on a call and someone else calls me then the call comes through. I am using Lycamobile and after I started facing this problem, I contacted them and got a new SIM card, ported my old number to new SIM card but alas the problem is still there. When I put my SIM to another iPhone (iPhone XR), or put another Lycamobile SIM card into my phone, both work. It seems like a weird combination of my old number and iPhone combination, which is not working.

I have tried all the recommendations from Apple viz. airplane mode trick, soft resetting, swapping out simcards and many more things. Both my Call forwarding and Call waiting are off. I have spoken to Apple service desk and Lycamobile many times but the problem persists.

Is anyone else facing the same problem or knows how to fix it?

Hi Pabitras,

Apple couldn't find any issue. They open my iphone and returned as it.

Loss of $40 (they removed my screen guard and didn't replace it :(

I think I figured out the problem and kind of fixed it myself.

Sim swap doesn't work (moving old lycamobile no new sim).
I am nearly sure that most likely in the past you may have ported your number (from another career) to LycaMobile. (this is what my case was).

If this is true, and you want to stick to Lycamobile, then read below -

Order a new sim with the plan of your preference.

Activate and take a new number with lycamobile.
this will work like charm and no problem in Iphone 13.
set call forwarding on your old number to this new number.
This will give you some time to update your current number with all your contacts.

I updated this workaround to Lycamobile customer care and they were not aware that the problem seems to be with the ported numbers.

That's ridiculous and I am sorry to hear your struggles. We all are in the same boat and wasting our time to fix a problem not of our own making 😣. Can you please keep us updated if switching carrier fixes the problem or not? I think it will help the community immensely.

I am actually livid. Lyca canceled my auto pay on their own without my consent and now they do refuse to provide my account number and pin so I can transfer to a new carrier unless I pay for the plan again, but why would I pay for one more month with them when 1. I can’t use my phone 2. I am switching carriers. The rep refused to transfer me to a supervisor and I really do not have the patience to deal with them anymore but I need to keep my number.

I understand your frustration. It was like a month of frustration here and there for me. I had to pay another month as well since I run out of time to get a new sim and port the number over. I just want to get it over with, especially that having a working phone seems like a luxury for the past month.

Hello Everyone,

After reading all your similar problems and solutions I was planning to change carrier this month but weirdly my phone started receiving calls since yesterday. I didn’t do any software update or called Lyca recently but somehow the problem seems to have fixed itself. Just wanted to give this update.

Very weird and frustrating. I hope Apple fixes this problem. I am worried to change carrier also, wondering if the problem still remains 🙁

I really need to keep this number. If I switch to mint and transfer the number over, I wonder whether I can resolve the issue

I can receive/send iMessages, but I can only receive text messages. I got exactly the same error message as you when I tried to send out text messages.

Yes it is critical for me to keep my number. Mint has a 7 day full refund policy. If I cannot port the number over, I will cancel.
