"Report an Issue" in Apple Maps is in a foreign language

When I try to report an issue in Maps, it is in a foreign language:

This only happens on my Mac, and happens all the time. Happened both in Monterey and in Ventura.

How can I correct this?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 13.0

Greetings AlanFleming,

Ensuring the language appears correct when reporting a problem is important. To confirm, have you verified the set language on your Mac? If not, verify the language using the steps listed below. It's possible this could be why you're seeing a different language when reporting an issue.

  1. "On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, click General  in the sidebar, then click Language & Region on the right. (You may need to scroll down.)
  2. Under Preferred Languages, do any of the following:
  • Add a language: Click the Add button , select one or more languages in the list, then click Add. The list is divided by a separator line. Languages above the line are system languages that are fully supported by macOS and are shown in menus, messages, websites, and more. Languages below the line aren’t fully supported by macOS, but may be supported by apps that you use, and shown in their menus and messages, and on some websites. If you can’t use the input source that’s selected in the Input menu to type a selected language, a list of available sources is shown. If you don’t add an input source now, you can add it later in Keyboard settings.
  • Change the primary language: Drag a language to the top of the languages list. If macOS or an app supports the primary language, menus and messages are shown in that language. If it doesn’t, it uses the next language in the list, and so on. The language may also be used on websites that support the language. The order of the languages in the list determines how text appears when you type characters in a script that belongs to more than one language. See If non-Latin fonts don’t appear correctly."

If the language is correct, verify the date, time, and timezone are correct in System Preferences > General > Date & Time, if Set time and date automatically is enabled, enable that feature as this may help as well.

Hey AlanFleming,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Community. One option is to create a new test user profile on the Mac, and boot in to that one and see if the issue in Maps persists. This article explains how to create a new test profile.
