With Ventura there is no icon for My Passport (backup disc) so I can't eject it.

Is it safe to disconnect My Passport backup disk when there is no icon for it?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 13.0

First verify you have the Finder >Settings>General> External Disk checked

I will say I have seen this same bug/ glitch running Ventura macOS 13.0.1

I use the Terminal.app command line to unmount, copy and paste:

diskutil umount

notice the trailing blank space here you can manually type in the name of your drive, including the path /Volumes/

ex.

MacBook-Pro ~ % diskutil umount /Volumes/Untitled

Volume Untitled on disk2s2 unmounted

MacBook-Pro ~ %

Other possibility if shown in DiskUtility.app
