Disable "Add New Wallpaper" from iPhone lock screen

The new Change your wall paper from the Lock screen is the MOST annoying addition that Apple has ever created! I try to open my phone and find that the phone wants to change wallpapers! It may be great for some people, but I should be able to disable it in Settings! If I want my phone to look different, I want to explicitly tell it what it should look like! I hate having it assume I want to play with looks when I am trying to answer a phone call, or look up information! How do I make it stop trying to change wallpaper on the lock screen, PERMANENTLY!

I 100% agree- that customization screen has driven me absolutely nuts. As far as I know there isn’t a way to disable it so to speak, but I have discovered a way to make it not appear nearly as often.

Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Haptic Touch > and then change the Touch Duration from Fast to Slow

Since I discovered this a few days ago I have not had that stupid customization screen come up ONCE! Hallelujah! Other than banishing that annoyance, I haven’t noticed any other change with how I use my phone. I hope this helps! I really hope Apple gives us an easier way to disable it in the future.

I spent a great while speaking to the two nicest ladies at Apple Support who seemed just as shocked as I was so ybrh reached out to the engineering dept and they were eventually told to that this feature CANNOT be c changed, she advised me to write in to Apple support/feedback to complain and hopefully Apples creators will do away with unwanted features within the next update/or next generation iPhone

Unfortunately not yet. I spent many hours researching and calling Apple. I spoke to two very helpful women who seemed to be equally dissatisfied and frustrated by this. They took a couple of days to consult with the engineering department to see if there was some kind of “work-around” but they said there was not. They encouraged me to post on discussion boards as I suppose Apple may consult consumer requests as they provide updates etc..

The "feature" might be cute or helpful for a few folks. Not having the ability to disable it? How unlike Apple! What engineer got that past the design review phase? What software test engineer managed to miss that it had no off switch? This a Micro..t invasion?

Apple doesn't read here in this user-to-user forum for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:

I found out Apple doesn’t read these support chats!!!!

These forums are not Apple Support. This is a user-to-user forum. And yes, I have posted in this very thread on January 4th, February 23rd, March 6th and this morning, March 24th that Apple doesn't read here for feedback or suggestions.

We have to report a big to Apple for them to fix it….

I also posted the feedback link:

Whether or not Apple will decide that they agree with you and provide a way to disable this feature is something no one here could say.

That is my number one complaint, followed closely by every other time I look at my screen, all of my icons are wiggling with the “x” wanting to be deleted just because I touched the screen a nanosecond too long.

Consider turning off tap-to-wake too, pending some potential future change by Apple:

Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Tap to Wake > off

What’s the point of having this forum if Apple’s not gonna do anything about it.

This is a user-to-user technical support forum. The purpose of the forum if for users to help each other out with issues. That means that people here can make suggestions about how to better use a particular feature but it doesn't mean anyone participating here has any ability to change things.

You can let Apple know what you'd like to see here:

There’s a workaround solution that I use to remove it.

Settings>Accessibility>Touch> Disable Tap to Wake

If you disable touch to wake you’re phone won’t register a long press that happens while in your pocket or etc. I actually really like tap to wake but I find having my background randomly changed incredibly annoying.

Apple really should give a proper way to enable or disable it.

Apple needs to

Same for me, dumb and dumber. Apple need live real world people. Like when just grabbing the phone out of the pocket-it triggers the change wallpaper. Feature should be only in Wallpaper settings-only takes a couple of deliberate taps. Expect better for Apples profits.

Maybe temporarily turn off tap-to-wake to reduce the access to the customization, pending some potential future change by Apple, too:

This is 100% the most annoying feature Apple has ever invented. I’ll just be holding my phone as I walk down the street and suddenly I look down and I have a space theme on my Lock Screen. Please please please make a way to turn it off!

Do you know?

Nobody outside of Apple knows the answer to that, and Apple does not usually post their future plans here.

Apple does read feedback AFAICT, but they don’t usually respond to feedback submissions.

Apple have the potential to act here—it is possible—but nobody around here knows if they will, nor when.

Log feedback, turn off tap-to-wake, eyc.

Have you given any thought to turning off “Tap to Wake?” Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Tap to Wake > OFF.

I just want it stay as it is unless I go in and change it.
Why would changing the wallpaper from the Lock Screen be useful?

It’s way handier than charging the Wallpaper from Settings, in my opinion.

‘Oh, I better just change my wallpaper, lucky I don’t have to unlock my phone!’

You do have to unlock your iPhone to change the Wallpaper from Lock Screen.

You have a forum for us to trash your product pretty much and not get any solutions? There are so many things wrong with Apple is not even funny I’m constantly fighting with my phone and I wish that I would’ve grown up using android instead.

You’re not talking to people that work for Apple here.

If Android works better for you, by all means use it.

Pending some hypothetical future changes by Apple here, disabling tap-to-wake and maybe also raise-to-wake can reduce or avoid this particular annoyance.

I understand this is a design flaw related to the Apple Watch. I thought I had adjusted a setting to fix it but it hasn’t worked. This can’t possibly be that hard to fix. FIX IT.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the Apple Watch.

No one reading here can "FIX IT". Apple does not read here for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let Apple know your thoughts here:
