Disable "Add New Wallpaper" from iPhone lock screen

The new Change your wall paper from the Lock screen is the MOST annoying addition that Apple has ever created! I try to open my phone and find that the phone wants to change wallpapers! It may be great for some people, but I should be able to disable it in Settings! If I want my phone to look different, I want to explicitly tell it what it should look like! I hate having it assume I want to play with looks when I am trying to answer a phone call, or look up information! How do I make it stop trying to change wallpaper on the lock screen, PERMANENTLY!

I 100% agree- that customization screen has driven me absolutely nuts. As far as I know there isn’t a way to disable it so to speak, but I have discovered a way to make it not appear nearly as often.

Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Haptic Touch > and then change the Touch Duration from Fast to Slow

Since I discovered this a few days ago I have not had that stupid customization screen come up ONCE! Hallelujah! Other than banishing that annoyance, I haven’t noticed any other change with how I use my phone. I hope this helps! I really hope Apple gives us an easier way to disable it in the future.

I know there’s no fix, just here to say +1 to everyone who hates this feature. I’m so tired of my wallpaper switching while I’m holding my phone nonchalantly without much pressure. Please for the love of all the things good in this world, give us a disable option. I may have to switch back to the Razor flip.

There's really not much practical point in chiming in here to say you agree. Apple doesn't read here in these user-to-user forums for feedback or suggestions.

Hey there derylh,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. To get started, while it would not be possible to disable the prompted to add a wallpaper, if you go ahead and add and then remove the wallpaper afterwards this should prevent the prompt from appearing when waking your device.

For more details on adding a wallpaper to your Lock Screen, check out this link here: Change the wallpaper on your iPhone - Apple Support

1. In the Settings app, tap Wallpaper.
2. Tap Add New Wallpaper.
3. Tap Photos, People, or Photo Shuffle to choose your own photo. You can also select a wallpaper from a category like Weather & Astronomy, Emoji, Collections, or Color.
4. If you want, you can customize your wallpaper further. Then tap Add.

Take care!

The "feature" might be cute or helpful for a few folks. Not having the ability to disable it? How unlike Apple! What engineer got that past the design review phase? What software test engineer managed to miss that it had no off switch? This a Micro..t invasion?

Apple is really going down hill fast. I’m tired of pulling my phone out of my pocket to a new wallpaper that I didn’t set myself because it changes as it’s in my pocket. I’m at the point I want to go back to a flip phone because of this stuff. I hate the wallpaper setup, I hate that if I delete a photo, voicemail or text messages I have to go to another box to delete it all over again. If I delete it I want it gone right then and they’re not saved for 30 days. Apple is definitely making it where people are gonna flee them in droves. I remember my first iPhone in 2007 the iOS back then is a 1000 times better than todays iOS.

Note that the ability to recover deleted messages is something that large numbers of people have been begging for (and submitting feedback about) for years. So, I think it's unlikely that, now that the feature is here, it will go away.

I found out Apple doesn’t read these support chats!!!!

These forums are not Apple Support. This is a user-to-user forum. And yes, I have posted in this very thread on January 4th, February 23rd, March 6th and this morning, March 24th that Apple doesn't read here for feedback or suggestions.

We have to report a big to Apple for them to fix it….

I also posted the feedback link:

Whether or not Apple will decide that they agree with you and provide a way to disable this feature is something no one here could say.

Under the American Disabilities Act this feature violates Federal Section 508 standards for mobility access. An option to disable this feature is a must due to the timing trigger on the Lock Screen. This is not only problematic for mobility challenged disabled individuals, it also creates a high risk a barricade for any person who may need lifesaving access in emergency situations.

Perhaps you should tell Apple:
