Dock unread count

Hi, I have just upgraded my Mac OS to Ventura 13.0.1 and since doing so the mail dock unread count has stopped working. I have checked all the appropriate boxes, turned everything on and off again but nothing seems to bring it back. All the other apps are working fine such as Calendar. Is this a common problem for this OS update and either way, can anyone suggest a fix? Thanks. Hugh

I don't have a solution. I just turned on my Dock (always hidden since I don't really care for it). I can confirm that I see the same thing. No unread number badge.
