Dark mode stuck on iPhone 13 iOS 16

I have a new iPhone 14 Pro running iOS 16.6. I have tried everything suggested on here and NOTHING works already feel right now. This is obviously a problem that has been going on for a couple of years and Apple has not fixed it - I’m not even sure there are interested in even address the issue since nothing has changed.

I hate dark mode! And for maps it’s horrible!

I can’t figure out why it happened or how to fix it, but my iPhone 13 switched itself to dark mode and I can’t get it to turn off. I’ve restarted my phone several times and it will start up regularly, but when I start navigating around and opening apps, it switches itself to dark mode. Can anyone help? Thank you!

I am having the same issue as babushki. Not only that, now my screen is half light and half dark mode. I have tried everything.

Never had this problem before but my iPhone auto updated to iOS 16.3.1 several days ago and I can’t get it to stay off dark mode. Apple please fix this.

I have a similar problem. Very frustrating. Is Apple paying attention to our complaints? I'm on 16.3.1 and it still persists.

I just got this resolved! Go to SETTINGS to DISPLAY & TEXT SIZE. Scroll down and turn off SMART INVERSE.

My phone now is permanently in the light mode which is a big improvement. over randomly switching between light and dark. I am on 16.4.1.
