android file transfer not working on Ventura

I keep on getting: "Please connect your Android device with a USB cable to get started" and/or

"Try reconnecting or restarting your device", although the hardware connection to my

Samsung Galaxy A33 is ok, the cable is ok, and the USB debugging is on.

The "Android File Transfer" app worked ok with the macOS 12 (Monterey).

Thanks.

Wow, thank you so much!!!

I spent a huge amount of time trying to make this @#$% Android File Transfer work on Ventura, and apparently, simply quitting Google Drive and Preview - makes it work again!!! :)

Thank you!

Still no love for me. On my Macbook Pro (13.2.1) neither Drive nor Preview is running. Trying to connect a Pixel 6 (Android v13). Oddly, when I connect the phone to my 2012 Mac Mini with High Sierra, AFT comes right up. AFT version is the same on both Macs. I will note that I also tried a couple other transfer apps on the laptop, and none of them works, either. I get the same connection problems (app sees the phone but won't connect to it). Appears to be something with Ventura.

I have followed everything I have read in reply to this post and have still come up short. Oddly enough, my wife's phone will work on my MacBook (Ventura), but my phone doesn't connect...but my phone does connect to her MacBook (Monterey). I have closed Google Drive, and preview, as well as gone to "Force Quit Applications" and made sure nothing else was running...no success! Man...this is frustrating!!

Absolutely none of these solutions worked for me.

M1 Max running Sonoma and Android File Transfer if it starts inevitably crashes before I can do anything or it just stops working and I have to force quit.

This behaviour is insane given USB is a STANDARD and quite frankly the only reason it doesn't work on Macs is the same reason Macs don't proper mount Android phones as storage devices... because Apple doesn't want them too and just ignores the standards.

I've been an Apple user for over a decade and own four macs, two iPads and a Studio Display but I don't want to have to but a $2,400 iPhone to be able to manage files on my mobile device.

This problem has a simple fix and I'm sure Apple could implement in a few key strokes but it's more important to maintain the garden walls than to maintain standards.

Pretty sure this post will be taken down and I'll be admonished for speaking ill of the Apple overlaords but that is the simple truth. Good luck!
