If you're getting a message that it cant verify the password or account, it would mean that either some account setting or the password you have saved is incorrect. Remove the account and re-add it to the Mail application.
After removing, you can add the account back with these steps: Choose Mail > Add Account, select an account type, then enter your account information. Make sure the Mail checkbox is selected for the account.

Thank you very much. The problem with account removal is that it removes any emails in that account that I am keeping on my computer in Mail program. Can't afford that! Apparently, Apple Mail servers were having problems the day that I was dealing with this issue. Problems have cleared up and all accounts almost normal.
