Mail message "Cannot Verify password or account"

-- What do I do to fix so I can use Mail? Mail won't access different email accounts

If you're getting a message that it cant verify the password or account, it would mean that either some account setting or the password you have saved is incorrect. Remove the account and re-add it to the Mail application.


  1. In the Mail app on your Mac, choose Mail > Settings, then click Accounts. 
  2. Select an account, then click the Remove button .


After removing, you can add the account back with these steps: Choose Mail > Add Account, select an account type, then enter your account information. Make sure the Mail checkbox is selected for the account.


If you can’t send or receive email on your Mac
