Audio Sync Issues streaming to 4k AppleTV

I have recently started getting audio/video sync issues on my new 4k AppleTV. I noticed this has been an issue in the past but seems to have resurfaced. Anyone else having issues when streaming from sites other than Apple+?

Hi there Gregzw,

We can provide some guidance. If audio isn't syncing as expected between your speakers and Apple TV, try these steps to calibrate it to see if that resolves the issue for you:

You can fine-tune the video or audio calibration on your TV, home theater, or wireless speakers, using any of the calibration tools provided in Settings.
1. Open Settings  on Apple TV.
2. Go to Video and Audio.
3. Navigate to Calibration, then do any of the following:

Wireless Audio Sync: Select to run a test with your iPhone to sync the sound of your wireless speakers to your wired speakers. See Calibrate audio between your wired and wireless speakers.

You'll find this information here: Adjust video and audio settings on Apple TV - Apple Support

Take care.

Gregzw,

Let's use the steps below to pair and test your Apple TV with Bluetooth headphones, if available:

1. Put your Bluetooth accessory in pairing mode using the instructions that came with it.
2. On your Apple TV, go to Settings > Remotes and Devices > Bluetooth. Your Apple TV will search for nearby Bluetooth accessories.
3. Choose your Bluetooth accessory.
4. If asked, enter a four-digit code or PIN. On your Apple TV, your accessory should now appear in My Devices.

You can also find those steps in this resource: Use Bluetooth accessories with your Apple TV - Apple Support

If you don't have access to compatible Bluetooth headphones, are you able to test your Apple TV while connected directly to a TV without your receiver or projector? That step would help us to isolate this behavior further.

Additionally, you only experience this behavior with content from apps other than Apple TV+. Did we get that right? That detail can also help with our isolation steps.

Let us know, and we'll keep moving forward from there.

The calibration helped about 90%. The issue is in my home theater which includes Bose 5.1 speakers connected to a ONKYO receiver and an Epson 3700 Home Cinema Projector that is connected to the Onkyo via HDMI cable. The 4kApple TV is also connected to the Onkyo via HDMI cable. The AppleTV is connected to my home LAN via hard wired ethernet.

I have connected some Bluetooth earbuds in the past and they worked but that was before the sync problems started. I had no issue streaming from Apple TV+. I had the issue with Amazon Prime and Plex. I haven't tried any others but will try them in the next couple days (HBO+, ESPN, Youtube, etc).

I did try using the apps on my TiVo for Plex and Amazon Prime and they worked correctly.

I do have another TV that has a different AppleTV connected to it but have not tried streaming anything on it.

Give me a couple days to try some different things and I will get back to you with results.
