iPhone camera focus while recording video goes blurry randomly

On my iPhone 12 and now my iPhone 13 Pro Max when I try to record video the camera just randomly goes out of focus. Sometimes seining it to a different scene will correct the focus often times not. Pressing the screen to lock in focus does nothing to stop nor fix this. So two versions of iPhone, multiple updates, and I’ve seen other people reporting this but all are being locked. I remember when iPhone prided itself on the quality of their camera, feels like it’s gone to the wayside now since this hasn’t been fixed in two generations.

Usually I upgrade to the new phones as they come out but the phot quality has always been great and liked having it but now it’s not working and I highly doubt after all the updates over tow gens it’s not going to be fixed so I’ll most likely pass on the 14 til I hear it’s been fixed or go to a phone with a better camera.

Before comments come out about “why would you pic a phone based on the camera” or something in that vein. Because I don’t always have my big camera with me, it can be a hassle especially when you find candid shots with limited time. And honestly the normal camera on this phone gets equal if not better quality shots quickly.
