Best Thunderbolt hubs for MPB M1

MacBook Pro M1 Max: looking for a Thunderbolt 4 hub with at least 3 or 4 downstream Thunderbolt 4 ports. I don't need charging or more USB-A or additional display ports. Most of what I see are "8-in-1" type hubs with more than I need.

I have charging through the magsafe on the MBP and the HDMI port is enough for my display.

My thought is to employ one or more powered USB 3.0 Hubs. Magsafe to Hub Will the Apple MagSafe connector work to connect a powered hub? (I'm using an Anker powered hub with HDMI, USB and Thunderbolt ports.) It seems unlikely, but it would be nice if it did. The specifics are: could I take the MagSafe cord off the power adapter and plug the USB-C end into the power outlet on the hub? Would this only work for power and not to send HDMI data, etc.?
