Sound quality on 3rd gen AirPods

The sound quality when my headphones are in is terrible. It sounds muffled. I let other people i know test it out just in case it was just me but no. this is a problem with the headphones it seems. you can hear the music perfectly from the output audio from low volumes when the headphones are in someone’s ears but for the person who’s ears they are in the audio is very muffled. How do I fix this?

Hello Alex_wood0202,

We understand that you're experiencing sound issues with your AirPods. The following steps may be able to resolve this issue:

"•Clean your AirPods and AirPods Pro:

• Don’t run AirPods or AirPods Pro under water.

• Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.

• If your AirPods or AirPods Pro are exposed to anything that might cause stains or other damage—for example, soaps, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, perfumes, solvents, detergent, acids or acidic foods, insect repellent, sunscreen, oil, or hair dye:

• Wipe them clean with a cloth slightly dampened with fresh water and dry with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.

• Allow them to completely dry before placing in the charging case.

• Don't attempt to use them until they're completely dry.

• Make sure not to get any liquid in the openings.

• Clean the microphone and speaker meshes with a dry cotton swab.

• Don't use sharp objects or abrasive materials to clean your AirPods or AirPods Pro."

• Reset your AirPods:

"1.Put your AirPods in their charging case, and close the lid.

2. Wait 30 seconds.

3. Open the lid of your charging case, and put your AirPods in your ears.

4. Go to Settings > Bluetooth. Or go to Settings > [your AirPods].

• If your AirPods appear there as connected, tap the More Info button next to your AirPods, tap Forget This Device, then tap again to confirm.

• If your AirPods don't appear there, continue to the next step.

5. Put your AirPods in their charging case, and keep the lid open.

6. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white.*

7. Reconnect your AirPods: With your AirPods in their charging case and the lid open, place your AirPods close to your iPhone or iPad. Follow the steps on your device's screen.

AirPods can be associated with one Apple ID. If you want to use AirPods (3rd generation) or AirPods Pro (1st or 2nd generation) that someone else has used, they first need to remove the AirPods from their Apple ID."
