Swipe returning me back to another screen

I am used to traverse the screens with CTRL+arrow.

The issue I have sometimes is that I for example swipe to go to the right "screen" (where iTerm and PHPStorm are), and then as soon as that screen would stabilize and become available for interacting with, it automatically reverts me back to a center screen as if I've pressed CTRL+left.

Any ideas?

Have you tried restarting the Mac..(?)

Make changes to your trackpad Settings and compare your results; then come back to your preferred settings and test.
