After upgrading to Ventura, when I enter or paste text into the Location field for a new or existing Calendar entry, the app crashes every time. The calendar on which the entry is added or updated is via CalDav using Synology Calendar. A crash does not occur under identical steps when using a different calendar such Home on my Mac.

Fixed on Synology as of the latest Synology Calendar update 2.5.1-21153. For anyone having this issue on their Synology NAS, it looks like Synology found a way around the issue. The update mentioned that it resolved an issue caused by "some CalDav clients," which sounded promising since this works fine on older versions of Apple Calendar and on my Android calendar app.
You certainly understand they want to push users into their proprietary icloud universe. Why should they be interested in supporting open standards? Task sync via CalDAV has been broken for ages. Subtasks still don't sync, but tasks syncing at all in macOS Ventura is a major improvement over the previous OSs from Apple's side.

I always used Windows at work and convinced myself 15 years ago to try Mac at home. I wish I never did. I've always felt like I was giving too much up on the software side. And then you stay with Apple simply because you adapt to it. Now we see this kind of crap where Apple doesn't care about software support. But should we be surprised? Take a look at the latest Microsoft Outlook versus the related Apple apps that haven't been updated in over a decade? Geez, I might try parallels and play around with Windows to see why I'm still using Apple.

Just to add that the problem is unchanged after upgrading from Ventura 13.0.1 to 13.1. Apple, please find and fix this irritating bug, and thank you!
I have the same issue, backend is Davical using CALDAV. Please fix this issue. I am on macOS 13.2
That did not help. I even reinstalled my Mac this weekend and still the problem persists.

Same issue: Apple Calendar crashes when entering location using Synology Calendar as account. Happened since upgrading to Ventura and still with latest 13.2.1.
Personally, I am mentally preparing for the disappointment of the upcoming 13.3 macOS update not addressing this embarrassing issue. Hope to be wrong.

It is fascinating how Apple manages to ignore such a severe crashing issue for several months.
Issue persisting under macOS 13.4, Calendar 13.0 (2932.5.2), crash still 100 % reproducible.
Same here. I reported that ridiculous error a dozen times but Apples just don't care. It seems nowadays they're interested in making money only, not in user satisfaction.
Same problem here with CalDAV-Calendars, crashes immediately after typing the third letter in location field!
