Apple Watch's AOS goes dim too quickly after raising wrist.

Whenever I raise my wrist with my Apple Watch Series 8, the AOS goes bright for roughly 5 seconds before going dim again. This is not enough time for me to comfortably read the information on the face.

Is there any way I can make the AOS stay on throughout the entire time my wrist is raised, or, at the very least, increase the timer?

I am not sure the timeout is adjustable but it does seem strange.

Make sure Low Power Mode is not turned on. Tapping the screen should give you a longer display period.
