On Ventura can you connect to both Wireless and Wired at the same time?

Further digging found an answer. First you need to "make inactive" your ethernet connection. Then turn on wireless and forget any networks that is will automatically connect to. Wireless will then be on but not be connected to any wireless network. Now "make active" your ethernet connection. Voila, you are using the ethernet network but airdrop will still work.

One other possible gotcha. If you have a "managed ethernet switch" and you want to use airdrop to pass files between multiple computers connected to the switch, there has to be a patch through the switch for the computes to talk to each other. In my case I had to create a VLAN in the configuration of the switch that included the 2 computers. One computer was connected to port 1 and one to port 8, so I configured a vlan that included those 2 ports. You can verify by pinging between the 2 computers.
