How to turn off memories

It is absolutely the height of arrogance for Apple to think that their computer brain can even begin to tell me what is important for me to remember about my photographs. This is so big brother that it makes me want to throw my phone out the window. You should at least give us the option of deleting this feature. What 20-year-old invented this idea?

Haven’t seen anything about Memories showing up here. Not since shutting off notifications for Photos in Settings > Notifications, and the equivalent in macOS Monterey Photos, in Photos app > Preferences > Show Holiday Events (off) and > Show Photos Notifications (off).

As for discussions of arrogance, and of machine learning image classification, I’ll leave all that for another time.

Apple added new features in Photos for Mac on macOS 13 Ventura. You can disable the Memories in the Photos > Settings: Remove the checkmarks in the Memories section of the General settings for Photos:

On the iPhone, in iOS 16, there are similar Settings > Photos, where you can disable Featured Content to be shown in Photos. Can you upgrade to macOS 13 Ventura and iOS 16?
