cant skip apple watch update

i just got a second hand apple watch, reset if paired it to my phone but when the update your apple watch screen pops up i thought you were able to skip and continue, now its says ski and exit setup, i want to skip because i have no way of a wifi connection right now so if i can get some help i would really appreciate it, thank you.
