System Settings > Desktop & Dock shows my Default Browser as Google Chrome. When I click on a link, a pop-up shows me that Safari is my Default Web Browser and it opens the link in Safari. How do I make Chrome my default browser?

I have the same problem. I support my family with a total of 6 different Mac computers and it's the exact same situation, it's a bug introduced with Ventura 3.1.
I called Applecare tech support and after 1.5 hours on the phone and doing typical level 1 followed by level 2 support diagnostics over a 2 hour period, I was told that this situation is a known problem at Apple and that it will be fixed eventually.
The default browser works for links within Emails, however it doesn't work from desktop URL shortcut (.webloc) files.
The only workarounds are to drag/drop the .webloc shortcuts into the desired browser and/or setup shortcuts within the browser shortcut bar.
I hope so...Lets see how many get aggravated before it gets an upgrade. Maybe more testing should be done before a release is made....
Same here! Bug has been bugging me since I loaded Ventura 13.1. No help from chat. Guess we just have to wait for an Apple fix.
Control (right) - clicking on a like or weblog file to change browsers is far from cumbersome.
Just posted something alone the lines of create a better browser instead of forcing Safari on users. That post was deleted. Just FYI ...

I have the same problem and also called Apple. Yes, it is a bug. For now, you can work around it by clicking on this menu and you choose the appropriate search engine...
