New login item from unidentified developer appears in background after updating to macOS Ventura 13.1

The process that is “by an identified developer,” is the open command, created and installed by Apple. Apple doesn’t sign most of the installed background processes.

Something you have installed is using the “open” command in a Unix shell script.

That list is just showing you what is there and allows you to disable the background task. You have to uninstall the software you installed that is generating the background task. It may not be easy to determine what it is.

Installing software from an unidentified developer is a dangerous thing to do. Remember, to do so you, the owner, must actively choose to by pass macOS security. It doesn’t happen by itself.
