I upgraded from Xiaomi MI box 4k to the Apple TV.
Apple TV picture is extremely dark.
If I swop just the unit on the same hdmi cable same tv settings, same app , same series, there is a vast difference in clarity. During day time viewing Apple TV is almost frustratingly dark.

This fixed it for me. Go into Accessibility/ Display and turn off 'Reduce White Point'. Now my Apple TV 4K HDR10 with Apple TV content is as bright as using the Apple TV app on the Samsung TV (2022 Frame). Not even sure why this option was turned on by default. No content/frame matching, with HDR10 enabled using 4:2:2.
I also had the same issue & saw Apple TV through the TV app. However, to get the picture quality right from Apple TV 4K 2022 box, one needs a 8k HDMI cable (HDMI 2.1) all the way from the Apple TV Box to the Monitor. Cracked it after 11 months of struggle. This is because the box specifies a HDMI 2.1 interface.
I have the same issue. However, mine worked fine for years, then a few month ago went very dark. Nothing changed in my setup, it just stopped working. I have verified it is not my projector, not my AVR, not the HDMI port on the AVR, not the cable, and not a setting. It is most definitely the Apple TV. The issue follows the Apple TV. My best guess is either a device on the circuit board failed or there was a firmware update that broke it. Either way, not a good look.
Come on. You know this is BS. It is all over the Internet that there is an issue with Apple TV 4K and apparently HDR TVs in general and Sony in particular. I regret upgrading to 4K Apple. Fix it.

Exactly the same for me. I have had my 4k 3rd gen Apple TV since release last year. It has worked great, until suddenly one day the picture output from it was very dark. Unwatchable. I moved it to another TV and the issue was there too. I plugged in a 4k 2nd gen Apple TV into the same TVs and that works fine. Something is wrong with the 4k 3rd gen Apple TV. It is broken now.
Same issue here. I used the 4k Apple TV for well over a year without issue and the dark problem started in the last couple months.
what’s strange is some shows start bright and I can watch them slowly dim until they are way too dark to enjoy.
please fix this apple!
I just go let the notification that Apple TV+ is going up to $9.99 and now I’m really not trying to deal with this anymore. Has anyone found a fix here? I only watch on my MacBook Pro (I like the screen close to my face so I don’t have to wear my glasses.) MacBook isn’t more than a year old and fully updated. So looking for some answers.
I change the picture settings on my tv and still pretty Dark.

It's not only on Apple TVs it's on all tv's even on the phone app. And still apple doesn't do an about it. So I cancel my account.
I don't have do anything on any other app why I have to do that on Apple?
The picture on my Samsung, smart TV, using the Apple TV app, is too dark! How do I fix this?
